It’s been a while since I introduced myself, and many of you are new readers to this blog. If that’s you, welcome.
I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little about myself (if you’re interested – if not, that’s okay, feel free to skip the next paragraph), and about why I do what I do with Impact Pricing (spoiler: this part’s about you).
The Pricing Expert
I love pricing. I’ve worked in pricing in various capacities for almost 30 years. I started by completing a PhD in pricing (marketing, technically) from U.C. Berkeley. Soon after, I was invited to teach pricing at Ohio State, where I stayed for about 4 years. I then left academia to become an entrepreneur (where I created and built a successful company) and share my love of pricing, which I’ve done through over a decade of blogs, a podcast, and a book. I also began consulting with many companies in large pricing projects, and spent time on staff at some companies in senior pricing roles.
Impact Pricing and You
Because I love pricing so much, I constantly read books and articles on the topic. They’re fascinating and fun for me, but only because the topic is central to what I do. For everyone else – like you – pricing probably isn’t quite as exciting. Most pricing books (and many business books in general) focus on the theory behind pricing.
If you’re a business owner, you likely care very little – if at all – about theory. You have one main thing in mind – profitability for your business. You likely prefer practical advice you can take action on easily to move you closer to your business goals. At Impact Pricing, this is what we give you.
Specifically, this blog serves as a ‘how to’ resource for you to better understand pricing in a practical way, so you can take real action to grow your business and profitability.
What You Can Expect From Me
Each week you can expect to see content with specific action items you can execute immediately in your business. Sometimes, I’ll talk about general concepts (while still including specific actions) applicable to all businesses. Other times, we’ll explore detailed topics which may include concepts not applicable specifically to your business, at least not right now. However, you’ll still learn a ton from these articles, too. All in all, you can expect to learn insights and steps to help you become more profitable.
Whether you’re a new or seasoned reader, I’m so glad you’re here. I appreciate the time you take to read these blogs, and I’m confident they’ll add value to your business and professional life.
If you ever have any questions, suggested topics, or comments, please let me know – either in a comment below, or via email at [email protected].
